Orthodontics

What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry, which handles the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of problems in the alignment of teeth and jaws. An orthodontic problem is termed a “malocclusion,” meaning crooked or protruding teeth, which do not fit together in a proper manner.   Orthodontic treatment involves the use of fixed (braces) or removable (plates) appliances to correct teeth and jaws to normal alignment.

Why Orthodontic Treatments?

Orthodontics can improve your smile and self-esteem. It not only makes you look and feel better, but it can also improve your health, preventing problems such as gum disease, bone and tooth loss, tooth decay, digestive issues, tooth grinding, and speech impairments. In the younger child, early orthodontic intervention may result in a better facial growth, leading to a more pleasing facial profile and straighter teeth.

Treatment Time

The average treatment time for full braces (upper and lower) ranges between 18-24 months. This can vary depending on the age, level of complexity, and patient compliance.
